Module 2: My Analysis of Girl on the Beach By Michele Hall
The artwork Girl on the
Beach was created by Michele Hall who is an emerging artist from New Port,
Sydney Australia. This artwork you can find at Artwork collective. It might not
be a huge hit like artworks from Van Gough or Leonardo DaVinci, but it has its
own magic going on and it just brings you in to really appreciate her
work. I couldn’t really find a date from when this artwork was
painting but if I do I will update my blog.
Let’s imagine this artwork with this description I am going
to give you. Imagine a young woman with a yellow bikini top and a flowy blue
skirt walking on a pathway with wooden railings on each side of her. On the left
side there is a hill of brown with a mix of yellow sand with a bunch of grass
covering it up. As she is walking this pathway, in front of her you see the
bright blue skies with barely any clouds, just how we would like it when going
to the beach. Under the sky there it is the big ocean with an incoming wave. The
dark blue ocean water just how you imagine. On the right side we can see the
sand and a couple of grass patches. As we can see here our vanishing point is
the young woman that is where our horizon line is located at. I feels as that
this artwork is a one-point linear perspective like I mention before we have
our vanishing point (vp) and from our vp we can make lines that go from the vp
and end at edge of the canvas. Which I feel that that is what creates the
pathway to look narrower when you get closer to the water. In the artwork we
can’t really see a sun but by the skies we can see its probably somewhere near
the middle of the day. This piece of art gives me a mixture of emotions since
seeing it makes feel warm and comfy and probably makes me want to go on
vacation so I can go to the beach. The blue skies make me feel at ease and calm.
As for the water we know that it cannot move but with the wave that is incorporated
in the art I can just hear the sounds of waves crashing onto shore.

I really liked your description of the picture. I made sure I read it before scrolling down to really look at this image and it was exactly as you described it. I really liked how you went in depth and talked about the vanishing point and horizon line of the picture. This picture reminds me of the Gulf of Mexico in South Texas so I really enjoyed seeing this piece of artwork. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteA improvement I would add to this picture that I think would look nice is adding some seagulls in the background. Or maybe a crab crawling in the sand. I think that would look great in this picture.
DeleteHi, Michele! I enjoyed your description of the picture and how your incorporated your own feelings into it; how it overall made you feel! And I would have to agree with you... looking at it makes me wish also that I was on an island somewhere enjoying the peace and quiet away from the rest of the chaos in the world right now. This is also very simplistic which has an affect to putting our minds at ease. You described this painting very well as you mentioned both the vanishing point and the horizon line. I agree with what Josh said. I think some kind of bird in the background would really add to this piece as well as maybe a turtle. But again, the simplicity of it is beautiful! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteand oh my goodness, I am so sorry... I meant Kelly, not Michele.. LOL. I was thinking about the author, oops!!!!
